LET THE PEOPLE JUDGE GED
By Profesor Martin Danenberg “El Quijote del GED”
Tom Suozzi for President! I am just kidding and I know that Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi is alive and well and campaigning for Hillary Clinton. Please read the campaign statements of Barack Obama for President, Tom Suozzi for Governor, and Hillary Clinton for President. GED finally has power in America, after a long hiatus. The plan that I gave to Tom Suozzi is so cost effective that Republicans, Conservatives, Michael Savage, Lou Dobbs, Rush Limbaugh, Democrats, and Liberals will all be agreeable. The people of the United States will want it too. We can thank Tom Suozzi for his help in bringing the GED to the forefront as an issue worthy of presidential debate. I want you to know that the plan goes well beyond what you read about it. Those GED instructors would become much more productive than GED teachers all over the United States. The plan was designed to mobilize enter communities and not just the students in classrooms. Everyone in your community will get help! Let the people judge! It costs ten of thousands of dollars to keep a person in prison, but with my plan we can help youth for only hundreds of dollars and give the savings to the American taxpayer. Are Jesse Jackson and Charlie Rangel reading this? Are African-American churches reading this?
Black and Hispanic leaders are gathering all over the United States now to endorse candidates. The GED plan for America is so critical to the future success of African-Americans, but the leadership is not yet in tune with this phenomenon. Some of them know about it, but they seem to forget. Reverend Calvin Butts is the head of a university where more African-Americans could enter if they only had a GED. Congressman Charles Rangel is a graduate of the GED, but he is not the chairman of the education committee in Congress and he is busy formulating tax programs and doing other things. Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have to pay close attention to keep African-American youth away from prison and unemployment now and not wait for 2009 when the next president takes office. GED for African-American youth now!
What about Hispanics? Are they doing the “Right Thing” for their people now? I do not think so. GED for Hispanics in Los Angeles, New York, Miami and wherever Hispanics live.
Help Youth Connect with Growing Job Sectors: Barack Obama will create the 5-E (Energy Efficiency, Environmental Education and Employment) Disconnected Youth Service Corps. This program would directly engage disconnected and disadvantaged youth in energy efficiency and environmental service opportunities to strengthen their communities while also providing them with practical skills and experience in important career fields of expected high-growth employment. The program would engage private sector employers and unions to provide apprenticeship opportunities. The program also encourages summer high school students to stay in school, and provides GED help and other wrap-around social services for drop-outs.
GED
In 2004, there were 2.85 million adults in New York without a high school diploma. We cannot forget those whom the education system has failed, or ignore the real costs that undereducated and underemployed New Yorkers have on our State.
I will provide a 6-hour GED teacher training course and pay SUNY and CUNY students $25 per hour to teach 40-hour GED prep classes in libraries and in schools after hours. By investing in helping adults pass their GED exam, we are investing in better workers and better citizens.

Today, Hillary Clinton announced a Youth Opportunity Agenda to address the silent crisis of disconnected youth in America. Hillary’s 35 years of experience fighting for children and families has taught her that every young person in America has potential. Yet today we are failing to realize that potential. More than four million of our young people between 16 to 24 are out of school and out of work. The number of these disconnected youth has grown an alarming 18% between 2000 and 2005. The situation of the 1.4 million young African American and Hispanic men who are out-of-work and out-of-school today is particularly troubling. These young men are less likely to graduate high school, more likely to end up in prison and are often left jobless and poor.
LET’S GIVE A BIG THANK YOU TO TOM SUOZZI WHEN HE APPEARS IN PUBLIC PLACES FOR HIS HELP IN MAKING THE GED A NATIONAL ISSUE. I AM NOT WAITING FOR 2009 AND MY CAMPAIGN IS REACHING THE HEART OF AMERICA. IT IS REACHING COMMUNITY LEADERS WHO ARE REALLY WORKING WITH AT RISK YOUTH AND NOT THOSE COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE PRETENDING TO REACH AT RISK YOUTH.
