San Jose Costa Rica
San Jose is the
capital of Costa Rica, is located in the province of San Jose. The city of San Jose is located 1.149 meters above sea
level, with a moderate and pleasant climate throughout the day.
Costa Rica's primary language is
Spanish, but there is plenty of English.
San Jose is located in the Valle Central, a meseta surrounded by high green mountains where the peaks of the
Cordillera Volcanica Central and the Cordillera de Talamanca
converge. This valley is home to San Jose, Heredia, Alajuela and
Cartago, capitals of the provinces by the same name.
Only one to two hours from these cities will get you to the
mountain regions and beautiful landscapes with active volcanos and
inactive volcanos such as the Volcán Poás, Volcán Irazú (the
highest point of the Valle Central), Volcán Barva.
San Jose has a variety of daily and nightly activity. Some of the
places of interest are: El Teatro Nacional, Museo Nacional, la
Plaza de La Cultura, el Bulevar de la Avenida Central, Museo de
Oro, Museo del Niño, Museo de Jade, Museo de Arte Costarricense,
Parque Metropolitano La Sabana, el Campus de la Universidad de
Costa Rica and a number of galleries, theatres, cafes, restaurants
and places for the nightlife.
Sightseeing highlights
The strategic location of San José allows you to access the green
mountains in no time as well as adventure in the nearby national
parks, volcanoes, rivers, towns and historic centers of the
capital and neighboring regions Alajuela, Cartago y Heredia.
Additionally, from the city center, it is only 2 hours to the
Caribbean coast and the Pacific coast.
